Players can also qualify for the World Series of Mahjong by participating in one of the official satellite tournaments.
Satellite tournaments will take place online at Mahjong Time, and in various countries and territories around the world.

Reachmahjong.com in association with World Mahjong Limited will hold an official 2008 World Series of Mahjong qualifying
tournament in Tokyo on August 10, 2008.

The top prize will be a seat in the Main Event at the 2008 World Series of Mahjong at Wynn Macau, a US$5,000 value, along
with travel expenses to Macau, and the chance to represent Japan in this prestigious event.

Tournament Details:
Date: Sunday August 10, 2008.
Venue: To be announced soon (Tokyo)
Fee: 3000 JPY
Rules: World Series of Mahjong Rules ®.

Registration: 11:00am
Start Time: 12:00pm (tentative)
Managed by: Reachmahjong.com

The format of the tournament will follow that of the actual World Series or Mahjong though in a condensed time frame.
The length of the rounds and the number of players remaining after each round will depend on the number of participants;
each round of 2 hours should narrow the field 25-50% and allow players to carry over 25% of their scores from the previous
round.

Practice Events:
Reachmahjong.com will be holding pre-qualifying rules workshops in order to allow players a chance to practice playing the
World Series of Mahjong Rules ®.

There will be 12 workshops total, each beginning at 7pm and lasting for 3 hours.

Dates: July 1st thru August 7th, 2008
Twice per week on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Venues: Tuesdays: Tokyo - Takadanobaba, Sentenbou Mahjong Parlor (Maruishi Build. 4F, 2-8-3 Takadanobaba, Shinjuku, Tokyo)
Thursdays: Yokohama – Academy Building Mahjong Classroom (Academy Build. 7F, 3-32 Tsuruya-cho, Kanagawa-ku, Yokohama,
Kanagawa)
Fee: 3000 JPY for each session (for venue and expenses)

At each session, after reviewing the rules, there will be pre-qualifying games. Positive points earned in these games will carry over
to the Official Qualifier in August. Each player will keep a running total of these points.

Details about the workshops can be found (in Japanese) at:register.reachmahjong.com/wsom-workshop
