What is the World Series of Mahjong?
The World Series of Mahjong is the first, true world championship mahjong tournament that offers a
significant prize purse. The tournament is open to any participant of legal age, and promoted
throughout the world.

How much can I win at the tournament?
The total minimum, guaranteed prize purse is US$1.0 million in cash. The champion will receive
US$500,000 with the remaining money paid among the next 31 places.

If I win are there any taxes or other fees?
Yes. A Macau government-stipulated 5% Stamp Tax fee will be deducted from the player's winnings.

If I win how will the prize money be paid to me?
Players have two options. Your prize money can be sent to you by bank transfer, or given to you
on-site via bank sight draft.

Who is eligible to participate?
Participation is open to any mahjong player of legal age. Minimum age to participate in the event is 21
years old.

What rule system is being used? Is it 13 or 16 tile?
Given the diversity of mahjong rules as played in Asia and other parts of the world, the World Series of
Mahjong will employ a simplified rule and scoring system that is fair to all, simple and easy to learn,
systematic and consistent, and emphasizes the playability of the game as a competition of skill.

The World Series of Mahjong employs a 13-tile scoring system called the World Series of Mahjong
Rules ®.
